Network setup
By default, QVidium QVENC, QVDEC, and QVPRO systems do not configure a DNS server. Most CDN access
uses host names, so you must set the DNS server field on the network LAN
interface. For example, you can use 8.8.8.8 as a DNS server.
- Point your browser to Network->LAN 1 to set the DNS server.
Install the CDN Software
- Click on cdn-23.pkg to download the software.
- Point your browser to System->Update to install the software package you just downloaded.
Install a CDN license
- Point your browser to License->CDN
- Email the CDN License ID to info@qvidium.com
- A zip file containing a trial license will be send to you
- Save the zip file to your desktop, unzip the license file, and install the
license file using the License->CDN web page
Configuring the Encoder
- Point your browser to Encoder->Profiles and then click on the New button.
You should see the following:
- Set the Stream Bit Rate field to the appropriate value.
- Select the MPEG4 AAC option on the Audio Encoding field.
- Select the RTMP option on the IP Transport field.
- Enter the RTMP or RTSP URL in the URI field.
- Enter the Stream Name in the Stream Name field.
- Enter a name in the Profile Name field.
- Click on the Save button.
Note: It is best to upload your video stream as a progressive
video feed rather than interlaced. To make certain that the QVENC
converts your video to Progressive, go to the Advanced Encoding
profile tab and under the D1/Half/CIF/VGA Progressive Output
setting, select Yes
Under the Advanced Encoding page, you can also scale a HD input to
SD resolution (or lower) by setting D1 (or lower) as the
H264 Video Resolution setting.
Configuring the Decoder
- Point your browser to Decoder->Profiles and then click on the New button.
- Click on the Server tab.
You should see the following:
- For example to pull a stream from URL
rtmp://qvidium.com:1935/live/uwtv
- Select the Server Type option RTMP.
- Enter qvidium.com:1935 into the IP Address field.
- Enter live/uwtv into the URL field.
- Enter a name in the Profile Name field.
- Click on the Save button.
